The global packaging industry noticed a 10.4% rise in IT hiring activity in March 2022 over the previous month, led by Nestle’s 14.83% share, according to GlobalData’s Jobs Analytics database.
The packaging industry’s overall hiring activity increased 6.64% when compared with February 2022.

Noticeably, IT jobs accounted for a 3.76% share of the global packaging industry’s hiring activity in March 2022, up 0.2% over the last three-month average share.
According to GlobalData, IT job opportunities available at the end of March 2022 were 2.44% higher when compared with the previous month.
The increase was a result of 4.17% lower job postings as compared to job closures during the month.

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers with a share of 55.93% emerged as the top IT occupation in the packaging hiring activity in March 2022, a 30.01% growth over the previous month. Database and Network Administrators and Architects came in second with a share of 14.76% in March 2022, up 20.35% over the previous month.
The other prominent IT roles include Miscellaneous Computer Occupations with a 14.54% share in March 2022, a growth of 26.78% over the previous month, and Computer and Information Analysts with a 9.33% share in March 2022 and a rise of 1.3% over February 2022.
Top five packaging companies by recruitment activity in March 2022
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 134.38% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of global packaging industry during March 2022 over February 2022.
Nestle posted 618 IT jobs in March 2022 and registered a rise of 263.53% over the previous month, followed by The J. R. Simplot with 234 jobs and a 7.83% growth. Rich Products with 184 IT jobs and Haier Group with 182 jobs, recorded a flat growth and a 78.43% rise, respectively, while Unternehmensgruppe Theo Muller S.e.c.s. recorded a 51.72% rise with 132 job postings during March 2022.
Regional composition of IT hiring in packaging industry
North America emerged as the leading region in the global packaging IT hiring activity in March 2022 with a 54.82% share, which marked a 26.17% rise over the previous month.
Europe stood next with 23.85%, registering a 4.74% month-on-month growth. Asia-Pacific was the third leading region with an 18.14% share and a 44% rise over February 2022.
In the fourth place was South & Central America with a share of 2.04% and a month-on-month rise of 41.67%. Middle East & Africa stood at the bottom of the table with a share of 1.15%, registering an 118.18% increase over the previous month.
