North America witnessed a 4.2% drop in IT hiring activity in the packaging industry in May 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics dashboard.
May 2022 has seen a decrease of 8.62% in the overall hiring activity when compared with April 2022.
IT jobs accounted for a 1.93% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in May 2022, registering an increase of 0.16% over the last three-month average share.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in May 2022
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in North America with a share of 38.55% in May 2022, a 2.27% drop over the previous month. Database and Network Administrators and Architects came in next, claiming a share of 24.8% in May 2022, marking a 17.55% month-on-month decline. In the third place was Computer and Information Analysts with a share of 14.84% in May 2022, a 22.4% drop from April 2022.
Miscellaneous Computer Occupations registered a share of 10.96% in May 2022, a 30.82% decline over the previous month.
Top five packaging companies in North America’s IT recruitment activity in May 2022
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average decline of 10.79% in the overall IT recruitment activity of North America’s packaging industry during May 2022 over previous month.
Ball posted 93 IT jobs in May 2022 and registered a decline of 1.06% over the previous month, followed by Carrier Global with 55 jobs and a 41.03% growth. Nestle with 51 IT jobs and PepsiCo with 47 jobs, recorded a 43.33% drop and a 51.61% rise, respectively, while Amcor recorded a 42.62% decline with 35 job postings during May 2022.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in North America’s packaging industry
The US commanded a leading presence in the region’s packaging industry IT hiring activity with a 90.44% share in May 2022, a 14.18% decrease over April 2022. Mexico featured next with a 5.28% share, down 19.7% over the previous month. Canada recorded a 4.28% share, a drop of 8.51% compared with April 2022.
Junior Level job postings dominate in May 2022
Junior Level jobs held a share of 62.15%, down by 21.01% from April 2022. Mid Level positions with an 18.13% share, registered a growth of 5.81% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 17.83% share, down 8.67% over April 2022, while Senior postings accounted for 1.89%, recording a month-on-month growth of 46.15%.
