Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in North America with a share of 35.03% in October 2022, a 16.03% drop over the previous month. Database and Network Administrators and Architects came in next, claiming a share of 23.41% in October 2022, marking a 6.37% month-on-month decline. In the third place was Computer and Information Analysts with a share of 20.86% in October 2022, a 30.13% drop from September 2022.

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average decline of 6.6% in the overall IT recruitment activity of North America’s packaging industry during October 2022 over previous month.
Ball posted 122 IT jobs in October 2022 and registered a decline of 1.61% over the previous month, followed by PepsiCo with 89 jobs and a 323.81% growth. J. R. Simplot with 74 IT jobs and Carrier Global with 52 jobs, recorded a 31.48% drop and a 34.18% drop, respectively, while Amcor recorded a 41.56% decline with 45 job postings during October 2022.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in North America’s packaging industry
The US commanded a leading presence in the region’s packaging industry IT hiring activity with an 87.9% share in October 2022, an 18.16% decrease over September 2022. Mexico featured next with a 7.01% share, up 7.32% over the previous month. Canada recorded a 5.1% share, a drop of 21.95% compared with September 2022.
Junior Level job postings dominate in October 2022
Junior Level jobs held a share of 61.23%, down by 13.89% from September 2022. Entry Level positions with a 19.98% share, registered a decline of 19.03% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Mid Level job ads with 16.4% share, down 29.93% over September 2022, while Senior postings accounted for 2.39%, recording a month-on-month growth of 100%.
