South & Central America’s packaging industry IT hiring activity drops 10.2% in December 2021

South & Central America witnessed a 10.2% drop in IT hiring activity in the packaging industry in December 2021 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics dashboard.

December 2021 has seen a decrease of 2.84% in the overall hiring activity when compared with November 2021.

IT jobs accounted for a 2.27% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in December 2021, registering a decrease of 0.16% over the last three-month average share.

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in December 2021

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in South & Central America with a share of 48.57% in December 2021, a 13.33% rise over the previous month. Computer and Information Analysts came in next, claiming a share of 24.29% in December 2021, marking a 6.25% month-on-month increase. In the third place was Miscellaneous Computer Occupations with a share of 18.57% in December 2021, an 18.18% rise from November 2021.

Database and Network Administrators and Architects registered a share of 7.14% in December 2021, a 58.33% decline over the previous month.

Top five packaging companies in South & Central America’s IT recruitment activity in December 2021

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 4.55% in the overall IT recruitment activity of South & Central America’s packaging industry during December 2021 over previous month.

Alpargatas posted 13 IT jobs in December 2021 and registered an increase of 160% over the previous month, followed by The Procter & Gamble with 11 jobs and a 120% growth. BRF with 11 IT jobs and GraceKennedy with 7 jobs, recorded a 47.62% drop and a 133.33% rise, respectively, while Kimberly-Clark recorded a 60% decline with 4 job postings during December 2021.

Country-wise composition of IT hiring in South & Central America’s packaging industry

Brazil commanded a leading presence in the region’s packaging industry IT hiring activity with a 54.29% share in December 2021, a 20.83% decrease over November 2021. Costa Rica featured next with a 12.86% share, up 50% over the previous month. Jamaica recorded a 10% share, a growth of 133.33% compared with November 2021.

Junior Level job postings dominate in December 2021

Junior Level jobs held a share of 70%, down by 2% from November 2021. Entry Level positions with a 20% share, registered a growth of 16.67% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Mid Level job ads with a 10% share, flat growth over November 2021.
