The UK’s packaging industry registered a 14.7% drop in IT hiring activity in June 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring is decreased by 8.83% in June 2022 when compared with May 2022.

Out of the packaging industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 4.2% share in June 2022, recording a decrease of 0.22% over the last three-month average share.

Top five job classifications in the UK’s packaging industry’s IT recruitment activity in June 2022

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 100% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the UK’s packaging industry in June 2022.

1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 38.46% in June 2022, registering a 22.54% decline over the previous month.

2) Database and Network Administrators and Architects claimed a 25.17% share, a decrease of 10% over the previous month.

3) Computer and Information Analysts held a share of 18.88%, registering a 44.9% decline from May 2022.

4) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations captured a share of 11.89%, down 46.88% over the previous month.

Top five packaging companies in the UK’s IT recruitment activity in June 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average decline of 21.74% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the UK’s packaging industry during June 2022 over May 2022.

Fujitsu General posted 33 IT jobs in June 2022 and registered a rise of 17.86% over the previous month, followed by Unternehmensgruppe Theo Muller S.e.c.s. with 24 jobs and a 31.43% drop. The Body Shop International with 16 IT jobs and Reckitt Benckiser Group with 11 jobs, recorded a 54.29% decline and a 15.38% decrease, respectively, while British American Tobacco recorded an increase of 50% with 6 job postings during June 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in June 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 72.73%, down by 33.33% from May 2022. Entry Level positions with a 15.38% share, registered an increase of 4.76% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Mid Level job ads with 10.49% share, down 37.5% over May 2022, while Senior postings accounted for 1.4%, recording a month-on-month flat growth.
