AE Global, a sustainable packaging solutions provider, has introduced verified badges for plastic-negative and plastic-neutral packaging.

The certifications are created in partnership with rePurpose Global, a prominent plastic waste platform.

This collaboration guarantees that the verification of environmental impact is both thorough and trustworthy for the brands involved.

Specifically, participating brands can now showcase official icons that represent their plastic recovery initiatives.

The badges indicate whether a brand is recovering an equivalent amount of plastic used in its packaging (plastic neutral) or double that amount (plastic negative).

These new certifications are intended to improve product visibility in retail environments and online marketplaces.

Research conducted by rePurpose Global shows strong consumer backing for this initiative.

Specifically, a nationwide survey revealed that 95% of consumers are prepared to pay a premium for products that support plastic recovery.

Among consumers who prioritise sustainability in their purchasing choices, the readiness to pay more is even greater.

This trend highlights the increasing demand for environmentally conscious products.

Several brands such as Thrive Market and Saie Beauty have already embraced the rePurpose Global Plastic Neutral certifications.

In 2024, AE Global and rePurpose Global worked together to recover 380,000lb of ocean-bound plastic waste.

In February this year, AE Global and rePurpose Global extended their partnership to offer a sustainability programme.
