Austrian packaging solutions and recycling solutions provider ALPLA has agreed to purchase Spanish plastic packaging company Bopla.
The acquisition is part of an asset deal. Both the parties have not disclosed the purchase price, or any further details involved with the acquisition.
ALPLA is planning to bolster its own portfolio by making use of the Spanish company’s single-stage manufacturing technologies expertise.
It will also strengthen ALPLA’s presence in the cosmetics and household care markets sectors.
ALPLA has a production plant in Les Franqueses since 1990, which will be integrated with the new site.
Headquartered in Bünde, Bopla specialises in manufacturing plastic packaging leveraging technologies extrusion blow moulding (EBM) and injection stretch blow moulding (ISBM) technologies.

ALPLA France and Iberia general manager Marc de Voogd said: “Bopla is well positioned in areas that belong to ALPLA’s core lines of business.
“We also want to make the most of the company’s many years of experience with single-step manufacturing processes to expand our portfolio.”
In March this year, the company ALPLA revealed that it is building a new packaging manufacturing facility in Lanseria in the province of Gauteng, South Africa.
Ground-breaking of the manufacturing factory was held in February 2020, while construction is expected to be completed next year.
