Amcor adds sustainable laminates to pharmaceutical packaging portfolio

The more sustainable High Shield Pharma laminates options will be initially launched throughout Europe.

Amcor has strengthened its pharmaceutical packaging portfolio with the addition of new sustainable High Shield laminates.

The recycle-ready packaging meets the high barrier and performance requirements needed for the pharmaceutical industry while complying with the recyclability agendas of pharmaceutical companies.

The new low carbon High Shield innovations feature more sustainable pharmaceutical sachet, stickpack, and strippack packaging that are available in both paper-based and Polyolefin-based materials.

In addition, the recycle-readiness of the advanced material meets regional demands and supports the market differentiation efforts of pharmaceutical companies.

The material is also compatible with existing filling machines, thereby removing additional investments or efficiency losses for manufacturers and packers.

Amcor Flexibles EMEA healthcare vice-president Virginie Maes said: “Amcor’s addition of more sustainable High Shield Pharma laminates in its portfolio demonstrate our unwavering commitment to innovation for the healthcare industry, as well as our promise to the environment.

“To Amcor, nothing is more important in our healthcare packaging than delivering the safety and efficacy needed for medicine and medical devices that millions of people rely on every day.”

Amcor will launch the sustainable High Shield Pharma laminates options for pharmaceutical sachet, stickpack, and strippack packaging across Europe.

They will address the increasing demand and sustainability requirements established by the European Union and regional governments.

Amcor manufactures packaging for the food, beverage, pharmaceutical, medical, home and personal care, and other industries.

The company recently increased the use of advanced recycled materials in its packaging, through ExxonMobil’s Exxtend technology.

The recycling solution of ExxonMobil produces commercial volumes of certified circular polymers for different applications.
