Paper and packaging materials distributor Antalis has acquired 1st Class Packaging, Donington Packaging Supplies and Parkside Packaging from PaperlinX UK.

The acquisition will allow the company to substantially grow its packaging business.

Based in the UK, 1st Class Packaging offers corrugated, tape, stretch film, polythene, protective and postal packaging products.

"This acquisition also secures the jobs for their 63 employees who have experienced some uncertainty over recent weeks."

Donington Packaging Supplies offers its packaging products to the food industry, which includes PVC overwrapping films, pallet stretch wrapping films, macro perf stretch net films, bubble wraps, postage and polythene bags, and adhesive tapes, as well as polypropylene, polyester, and steel strapping.

Meanwhile, Parkside Packaging operates full computer-aided design facilities and is a specialist manufacturer of bespoke corrugated solutions. The company offers a wide range of packaging solutions, including corrugated, tape, stretch film, polythene, protective packaging, postal packaging, pallets and strapping, packaging systems.

The financial terms of the transaction are not disclosed.

Antalis managing director David Hunter said: "This acquisition also secures the jobs for their 63 employees who have experienced some uncertainty over recent weeks. For them and their customers, it is now very much business as usual."

Antalis distributes paper and packaging materials across the world, with sales of €2.9bn in 2010. With close to 6,700 employees, the company serves more than 230,000 print and business customers worldwide.
