API introduces new foil to keep SnowFox vodka cool

Brand enhancement specialist API has created a cold foil solution, API 1000 TA, for Port Royal Distillers’ SnowFox vodka, which depicts a Canadian snow fox on its shrink label.

Brand enhancement specialist API has created a cold foil solution, API 1000 TA, for Port Royal Distillers’ SnowFox vodka, which depicts a Canadian snow fox on its shrink label.

The foil is applied to the front graphic panel of the shrink label by Spectrol which exhibits a Canadian snow fox in finely detailed close-up with an icy blue labelled background.

The design produces a glow-in-the-dark effect that illuminates the electric-blue eyes of the snow fox which is easily noticeable in low-lit areas such as nightclubs.

Spectrol account manager Vishal Sahadeo said: “Originally, we were using a different foil and experiencing some problems, but when we switched to the foil from API, everything clicked into place.

"We wanted to create an effect that wasn’t already available on the shelf, and the result certainly achieves this."

“We wanted to create an effect that wasn’t already available on the shelf, and the result, with the amazing blue eyes of the snow fox, certainly achieves this. It’s one of the most visually arresting labels we have ever produced.”

The foil is printed at the Spectrol factory located in Ontario, Canada.

In the printing process, it uses a Gallus EM5 10S 20-inch flexographic printing press with ten colours and a full servo drive (inline).

Sahadeo added: “Since we had never printed onto a shrink label before, we required a lot of guidance at first – and the API representative was always on-site with helpful advice.

“This was invaluable, saving us what would have been a lot of downtime while we worked things out for ourselves.”

API develops and distributes foils, laminates and holographic materials to different consumer brands.
