Aptar Beauty, in collaboration with Pinard Beauty Pack, has announced its plans to launch the first fully recyclable airless packaging solution to the market, called Future Airless PET.

The omnichannel airless packaging, which is available in large sizes, can be used for personal cleansing, body, hair, as well as sun care products.

It leverages both Aptar’s Future polyethylene (PE) pump and Pinard’s patented Airless polyethylene terephthalate (PET) bottle-in-bottle technology.

Aptar said that this product will be available in a 400ml bottle along with a 28 snap-on pump. An additional non-detachable tamper-evident system is also available for companies and brands as another option.

These businesses can utilise several customisation options with Future Airless PET to ensure conformity with their respective brand identity.

The product is expected to launch by mid-2024.

Aptar Personal Care Europe, Middle East, and Africa marketing director Madalina Dragan said: “Both companies have a track record in product excellence and hold the EcoVadis Platinum Medal, so there was a strong synergy in our collaboration.”

Designed for e-commerce applications, Aptar’s Future pump is a monomaterial PE solution that comes with a locking/unlocking ring and a 360-degree, free-spinning actuator to reduce potential breakage during transportation.

Pinard’s airless PET bottle-in-bottle technology meanwhile, is used for making flexible bottles with rigid outer containers.

According to Aptar, the new Future Airless PET solution has compatibility with cosmetic formulas, as it offers formula protection, as well as a high restitution rate, and allows customers to use it at any angle.

This packaging solution has already passed the International Safe Transit Association (ISTA) 6-Amazon protocol for use in shipping.

Brands and companies looking for more sustainable alternatives can also acquire post-consumer recycled material made from the Future Airless PET solution.

Pinard plant director Paulo Coelho said: “When our first airless PET prototype was released, we quickly realised that this innovation would benefit from a reliable and sustainably designed pump, in order to offer a complete, robust and successful airless solution.”
