Paperboard cartons, flexible packaging and trays manufacturer AR Packaging Group has completed the acquisition of MeadWestvaco’s European tobacco, chocolate confectionery and general packaging operations.
The deal was previously announced in January.
The acquisition covers three plants in Graz, Austria, Krakow, Poland, and Moscow, Russia, where MeadWestvaco manufactures hinge-lid boxes, display cartons and high-impact cigarette packaging, as well as folding carton packaging for chocolate confectionery and consumer apparel segments.
The deal also includes the tobacco and confectionery folding carton business currently served by MeadWestvaco’s plant in Svitavy, Czech Republic.
The acquired operations will be operated under the A&R Carton brand. However, the Svitavy plant will remain part of MeadWestvaco.
AR Packaging CEO Harald Schulz said: ""We elevate AR Packaging to a top three position in the European folding carton market with a total group net revenue of approximately €550m.
