Glass and metal packaging solutions provider Ardagh Group has unveiled a new development machine that allows brands to launch new or redesigned products in glass packaging much faster.
The development machine is located in Ardagh’s glass manufacturing facility in Port Allegany, Pennsylvania, US.
It is a highly flexible glass forming system, with an ability to support quick changes and enable a 30% reduction in new product lead times.
According to Ardagh, reduction in new product lead times will offer a clear advantage to companies in the marketplace.
The technology’s ability to simulate almost every manufacturing condition allows it to make glass bottles and jars of different shapes and sizes.
In addition, it comprises the latest design features such as unique textures and embossing.
Ardagh Group North American Glass division chief commercial officer Alex Robertson said: “As a leader in glass packaging, Ardagh Group continues to focus on innovation and this flexible facility enables our customers to achieve real reductions in the time taken to get their products to market.”
Under its overall Vision4Glass approach, Ardagh Group has a team of designers that work together with customers in the earliest design phases in a bid to create conceptual designs, technical drawings, 3D renderings and prototype models.
Ardagh noted that the introduction of the development machine will improve this process and allow brand owners to seamlessly create custom bottle designs, and launch new products or limited edition releases.
