UK-based glass manufacturer Beatson Clark has made an investment to modernise its glass bottle manufacturing unit in South Yorkshire.

As part of the £3m investment, the company has installed Bottero individual section (IS) machines on two of its manufacturing lines to improve glass bottle production.

The newly installed IS machines will be used to produce glass containers for various food brands, including English Provender and Mackays, as well as for some of the major UK retailer’s own brand products like spice jars.

Capable of operating round the clock, the machines can produce an average of 160 million white flint bottles and jars annually.

“This investment is part of our commitment to continuous improvement for the future and will ensure that we can improve our production processes while maintaining and enhancing quality."

Beatson Clark project management head Graham Lax said: “These new eight-section double gob machines represent the latest generation in servo-controlled equipment.

“This investment is part of our commitment to continuous improvement for the future and will ensure that we can improve our production processes while maintaining and enhancing quality.”

In September 2016, the company announced the installation of two new palletisers on its amber glass lines to make production faster and more flexible than before.

A total of £720,000 was invested in installing the new Zecchetti conveyor line and palletiser, which is suitable for both bulk and small packs.
