China-based supplier Belle Cosmic Manufacturing Co has launched portable UV disinfecting cases for the cosmetics packaging industry.
The UV disinfecting cases are designed for cosmetics products and can kill 99% of germs in just five minutes.

Using ultraviolet C (UVC) light with a wavelength of 220-280 nanometres is safer for humans, as per a study conducted by Hiroshima University.
The 222nm UVC light cannot penetrate the outer, non-living layer of the human eye and skin when compared to 254nm UVC germicidal lamps used in disinfecting healthcare facilities.
The study published in the American Journal of Infection Control found that it kills 99.7% of the SARS-CoV-2 viral culture after a 30-second exposure at 0.1 mW/cm2.
