Speciality chemicals producer Clariant has opened a new packaging facility in Dongguan, south-east China.
The facility, which was acquired by the company through the purchase of healthcare packaging company VitaPac, will be operated under Clariant Masterbatches.
The Dongguan plant will produce a complete range of quality desiccant packets primarily for customers in the pharmaceutical, nutraceutical and food industries, but also for a series of complementary active packaging products.
It is expected to improve Clariant’s existing portfolio of controlled atmosphere packaging solutions, as well as expand the company’s current production and service network in China.
The facility will be an addition to Clariant’s existing healthcare packaging sites in China, the US, France and Australia.
Clariant Greater China regional head Jan Kreibaum said: "The clusters of manufacturing hubs and capabilities we have built and acquired over the years in China are symbolic of our continued commitment to achieving sustainable and long-term growth in the country.
