The agreement gives CTI customers access to an alternative to rigid plastic bottles, tubs, and cans.

Graphic Packaging is also working with other co-packers to make Boardio available to a wider range of brands.

Boardio is made primarily from paperboard and is available with barrier options designed to limit oxygen and moisture exposure.

CTI supplies the format in different sizes and barrier specifications, including high-barrier versions for products that require greater protection.

CTI president and owner Jerry Thompson said: “By offering Graphic Packaging’s Boardio solution, we can give our customers access to an alternative to rigid plastic that delivers the shelf appeal, product protection, operational efficiency, and economics they need.”

Depending on the packaging configuration, Boardio can use more than 90% less plastic than rigid plastic cans. It is designed to be handled, stacked, opened, and reclosed.

It can also be printed across its full exterior surface, unlike standard nutraceutical bottles, which often have limited label space.

Graphic Packaging International global innovation vice-president Carlos Carrillo said: “Boardio delivers on all three, proving that brands no longer have to compromise. They can have it all in one smart, standout pack. And by working with co-packing partners like CTI, we’re making it easier for brands to bring that innovation to market.”
