Foodservice packaging solutions provider Eco-Products has introduced a sustainable alternative to meat and produce trays.

The new compostable offering is made from sugarcane and designed to package any food item that needs to be stored in the refrigerator or freezer. It can be used by grocery stores and food processors, which plan to use compostable packaging options.

The trays are resistant against grease and cuts, microwave-friendly and available in different sizes.

According to the company, these trays also meet ASTM guidelines for compostability.

Eco-Products marketing senior director Sarah Martinez said: “These compostable trays are ideal for supermarkets and food processors seeking environmentally preferable packaging.

“We’re excited to offer them because the demand for sustainable options continues to grow.”
