Lightweight packaging and filling machines producer Ecolean has acquired land in Landskrona, Sweden to set up a new production facility and expand business as part of its growth strategy.

The acquisition of the new 30,000m² land parcel will allow the company to increase its capacity to be able to meet demands of its clients in the liquid food industry.

The company noted that there is provision in the agreement signed with the seller to obtain an additional 30,900m² at a later date.

“As part of our ongoing expansion strategy, this investment of €25-30m will enable us to continue being a fast growing and rapidly expanding company.”

“The new production facility will be up and running in 2020 and we expect to add around 100 new job opportunities within a few years’ time.”

The new plant will be located around 20km south of Helsingborg, which is also the location of the company’s headquarters and one of its existing production facilities.

Besides Sweden, the firm operates a production facility in China.

The company is currently engaged in the construction of a production plant in Pakistan and expects to begin operations next year.

According to Ecolean, it keeps the usage of raw materials for lightweight packages to a minimum to ensure the packages have a low environmental impact throughout their life cycle.

Founded in 1996, the company employs 400 staff, with around half of them working at its headquarters.

The Swedish firm’s lightweight packaging range includes ECOLEAN AIR, ECOLEAN AIR ASEPTIC, and ECOLEAN AIR ASEPTIC CLEAR.
