The CW-D3800 is intended for low-volume, on-demand colour printing.

It is aimed at uses such as visitor management and producing custom, private or seasonal product labels.
Epson said the printer uses a PrecisionCore permanent printhead designed to remain in place for the lifetime of the device.
It prints with dye ink at resolutions of up to 600 dpi x 1200 dpi and supports media in roll and fanfold formats. Label sizes range from 1 inch to 4.25 inches.
At the same time, Epson announced Label Boost, a set of label design and printing tools for Epson label printers.
The software package consists of three products. Label Boost Designer1 is intended for businesses starting in-house colour label printing.
Label Boost Concierge is designed for visitor check-in and badge printing.
Label Boost Shipper, previously called Label Boost, is used for creating and printing shipping labels in colour.
Label Boost Designer includes a drag-and-drop interface and can be used to create labels, visitor badges, shelf tags and food labels. It also includes templates for applications such as visitor badges, shelf tags and fresh food labels.
Epson said it works with badge designs created in Label Boost Designer and includes a form-based interface for visitor or event attendee check-in and badge printing.
Label Boost Shipper, which was formerly Label Boost Software, allows businesses to design and print shipping labels in colour, including QR codes, images and other visual elements.
Epson America product manager Andrew Kim said: “An affordable, low-volume, on-demand colour label printer isn’t just a convenience; it solves some real constraints for businesses. The new CW-D3800 allows businesses to stay lean, adaptable and cost-conscious while presenting a professional, high-quality brand.
“There’s also an increased demand for visitor management solutions, especially across education, healthcare, corporate and government sectors where organisations need a simple way to create and print badges for identification and security. Colour badges are often the preferred method for visitor management badges because they provide fast visual recognition and can improve access control and security response.”
