Belgium-based Esko has introduced a new series of high-speed corrugated board cutting tools compatible with its Kongsberg cutting table products.

Launched at drupa 2016, the new CorruSpeed tools provide cleaner and more accurate cuts than traditional die cutting tools.

Suitable for Kongsberg C Series, X Series, XP and XE cutting tables, the tools feature a new floating foot with spring-loaded adjustable pressure, which allows it to cut a wider range of boards.

"We saw very high enthusiasm for these new tools at drupe and have seen fast adoption both as add-on tools for existing Kongsberg tables."

Esko product manager Knut Johansen said: “We saw very high enthusiasm for these new tools at drupe and have seen fast adoption both as add-on tools for existing Kongsberg tables as well as inclusion in the sale of new tables.

“Digital cutting of corrugated board has been problematic in both the packaging and signage markets due to the tendency for digital cuts to leave burrs or tags on corrugated board that detract from the quality of the final product.

“With these new tools, that barrier is eliminated. It is silent and results in a smooth cut similar to conventional die cutting by enabling more aggressive pre-crushed lines that prevent the liner from cracking. It has set a new benchmark in digital finishing.”

Offering enhanced cutting quality, the new tools provide digital finishing for packaging, signs and displays.

In September, Esko launched a new PDF Native packaging design and pre-press editor, ArtPro+, with its new software platform.

The solution features a complete clean sheet design meeting the requirements of packaging and pre-press professionals.
