Germany-based speciality chemical company Evonik has launched the TEGO RC 1442, its new cationic ultraviolet (UV) curing release system based on its existing RC 1400 series technology.
The TEGO RC 1442 silicone release coating is designed to offer optimal coating and the easy release performance expected by the company’s customers.
It is suitable for fast-curing pressure-sensitive adhesive (PSA) applications and delivers stable release values under different storage conditions.
Evonik TEGO RC Silicones global head Stefan Stadtmueller said: “The increasing demand from our PSA market customers for globally available, easy-to-apply and high-performing UV curable products inspires us to continually review our portfolio to ensure that we deliver the solutions our customers need to meet changing market dynamics like the growth in online shopping.”
TEGO RC silicones can be used for hygienic products such as food packaging and food contact applications, as well as industrial release liners, self-adhesive labels, graphic arts and tapes.
The launch of TEGO RC 1442 is intended to boost Evonik’s presence in the PSA market and address the demand for high-performance label and packaging solutions, which is increasing due to the rising popularity of e-commerce.
Evonik said that the solution is fully commercialised and currently available worldwide.
The company has more than 30 years of experience in UV curable silicone release systems. It currently operates in more than 100 countries and has around 33,000 employees.
Last year, Evonik registered sales of €12.2bn ($13.8bn) and operating earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) of €1.91bn ($2.15bn).
The company offers two UV curable silicone release systems under its TEGO RC Silicones range, both of which are solventless and do not require heat to produce release coatings.
