Making the Packaging System Fit the Circular Economy

For the packaging industry to achieve a sustainable future, it needs to dramatically increase circularity and the reuse of materials. While shifting from a linear economy to a circular model will take time, there are already actions that brands, manufacturers, and converters can already take to help make a difference. This document by Siegwerk – a global leader in inks and coatings for packaging – delves into solving the plastic paradox, looks at the relevance of bioplastics, and sets out ways to not only achieve circularity in packaging but also make it economically viable. Furthermore, the document goes into detail on how printing inks and coatings are vital for enabling circularity in packaging. Ultimately, the packaging system needs to be reconfigured for a circular future. And consumers are expecting the packaging industry to play its part in progress. Timber Creek, which does business under the name Wisconsin Box, specialises in the manufacture of protective packaging solutions several different end markets.

The full service, custom crating and packaging company has operations in Wisconsin, New York and Tennessee.

FCA Packaging CEO David Wilsted said: “We are excited to add Timber Creek to FCA’s national portfolio of the best industrial packaging companies.

“Timber Creek’s leadership and reputation in the greater Milwaukee and Chicago areas will further FCA’s offering in the region, and allow both our companies to expand the scope, reach and level of service to our national customer base.”

The move is part of Timber Creek’s strategy to accelerate its continued growth with a ‘right partner’.

Additionally, it will create new opportunities for Timber Creek’s team.

Following the acquisition, Timber Creek’s customer relationships and experience in advanced packaging solutions will be integrated into FCA’s tools and resources.

Timber Creek founder Gary LeMaster said: “Over the last 34 years, growing from one small pallet shop to nine production facilities across three states, we always had terrific employees and kept our focus on the customer. I know FCA has the same appreciation for employees and customers, and I am excited about the future partnership.”

In September, FCA Packaging acquired Quad’s heavy-duty industrial wood crating business Transpak.
