He became chief executive nearly eight years ago.
During his tenure, Fedrigoni expanded its international presence through a combination of internal growth and acquisitions, noted the company.
Fedrigoni’s board has appointed Rolf Stangl as executive chairman, effective on the same date as Nespolo’s departure.
Stangl will work with the group’s chief financial officer and the chief executives of its operating companies on the company’s growth programme.
Stangl has held senior roles in the packaging industry for more than 20 years, including executive and board positions at private equity-backed and listed companies.
He was chief executive of Swiss-listed packaging group SIG from 2008 to 2020, during which time the company went through several changes in ownership and completed its initial public offering.
He later became a senior adviser to Apollo Global Management.
His current board positions include non-executive chairman of Nasdaq-listed Reynolds Consumer Products and non-executive director of The Family Office Co.
Established in Verona in 1888, Fedrigoni makes speciality papers for luxury packaging and premium wine labels.
The group has nearly 6,000 employees, 73 facilities and a presence in 28 countries. Its products are sold and distributed in 132 countries.
