Finland’s Huhtamaki Foodservice Nordic has unveiled a single-use paperboard hot cup range with the Nordic Ecolabel, the official Ecolabel for the Nordic countries.
The new range has been launched after Huhtamaki received approval to use the Nordic Ecolabel’s Swan logo on the cups that are targeted for use in cafés, restaurants and catering services.
Manufactured in the company’s facility in Hämeenlinna, Finland, the cups fulfil all the criteria of the Nordic Ecolabel, which aims to promote the use of environment-friendly products.
Featuring a generic Swan print, the hot cups are available in 250ml and 300ml sizes.
Customers can customise their cups with a specific print in all the basic range size options.
Huhtamaki sales director Peter Kinnunen said: "Sustainable development is an important part of our business.

By GlobalData“The Nordic Ecolabel is a well-known and respected eco-label and receiving it shows that we make concrete efforts in the field of sustainable development.
In order to obtain the Nordic Ecolabel criteria, products must feature at least 90% renewable raw materials, as well as recyclable or compostable components, and contain only a limited amount of chemicals.
Energy consumption and emissions during production are also considered before the Nordic Ecolabel status can be added.
Huhtamaki currently provides packaging solutions to distributors and retailers, as well as foodservice operators and the food and beverage industry in the Nordic and Baltic countries.
