Flint Group has opened its new Global Innovation Centre (GIC) in Malmö Sweden, which will help cater to the paper and board packaging inks business.

The GIC is equipped with Flint Group’s new eight-station SOMA printing press, which features the latest web handling, water-based and UV printing capabilities.

The centre also has a soundproof collaboration room, a 590m² area for press demonstrations, development and testing labs, an ‘academy’ room, and a lounge.

A new GSE ink dispenser and Flint Group’s VIVO Colour Solutions toolbox at the GIC help to enhance pressroom operations.

"The centre has been specially designed to focus on the development of products that will shape the future of paper and board printing."

Flint Group EMEA and global strategy paper and board sales vice-president Kim Melander said: “The centre has been specially designed to focus on the development of products that will shape the future of paper and board printing.

“The investment in our new state of the art SOMA printing press is a significant milestone and a clear demonstration that we are fully committed to invest in our industry and support our customers’ growth through an innovative development workflow.”

In June 2016, Flint Group opened a Global Colour Centre (GCC) in Poland, which will enable the company to meet the demand for brand equity and integrity solutions.

Both the facilities are designed to support innovation and offer service development and education for customers' day-to-day technical operations.
