Germany-based Siegwerk has opened its INKube packaging ink solution centre in Xin Zhuang Industrial Zone, Shanghai, China.

Opened as part of the company’s comprehensive investment plans, the new facility will help Siegwerk to expand its presence in Asia.

With a workforce of more than 220 employees, INKube will use cutting-edge procedures during its operations.

The five-storey INKube facility offers a reception area, a 110m² showroom, and 600m² of lab space.

The INKsperience showroom provides an overview of Siegwerk’s expertise in packaging inks and a range of applications served by the company's solutions.

INKube is designed to develop new products and solutions meeting its customer's requirements.

Siegwerk Asia president Ralf Hildenbrand said: “We see a clear need to devote our resources to serving the markets of tomorrow like Asia in order to ensure sustained success for the company.

Siegwerk recently concluded an investment project at its technical centre in France, which included the construction of a new blending facility for water-based inks.

The company has also made investments in automation and to increase the capacity of its site in Morganton, North Carolina, US.
