Carton specialist Graphic Packaging International’s (GPI) UK unit has developed an innovative packaging design for food manufacturer Two Sisters Food Group’s (2SFG) new Foddr ready meal brand.

Developed in partnership with 2SFG, the new packaging will be sold through online retailer Amazon and features 62 different products, including fresh poultry and cooked chicken, ready meals, soups, accompaniments and pizza.

Available in printed cardboard sleeves and skillet cartons, Foddr’s new packaging design includes icons instead of imagery for improved online presence.

Different brand colours were achieved by mimicking a brown kraft board effect in the background to give a contemporary natural look across the range.

In addition, spot varnishes were used for the Foddr logo, icons and product descriptor.

2SFG group packaging development manager David Tonkin said: “This is an exciting brand launch which meets the increasing trend of consumers shopping more frequently for instant consumption.

“Foddr’s broad range of products and this new channel to market is a fantastic opportunity to offer consumers Real Food Fast in a way that has not been possible before.

“GPI UK were very supportive in replicating faithfully the Foddr brand designs to finished packs and in producing all 62 products quickly so we could launch on time and in full.”

The company also noted that Amazon will use its chilled distribution centres to deliver the Foddr products within one to two hours of an order being placed across London, UK.

2SFG is planning to bring the new ready meal products to other parts of the UK in future.
