US-based healthcare company TherapeuticsMD has developed new packaging for prenatal vitamins that contain iron.

The packaging has been designed to address the challenges faced in producing child-resistant safety packaging for prenatal vitamins.

It includes a blister pack locking system that allows adults to easily open it by squeezing the sides, pulling out the pill blister, and pressing the capsule through the foil backing.

The new line of packaging developed by TherapeuticsMD will be used for vitaMedMD’s vitaPearl prenatal multivitamin and BocaGreen’s Prena1 Pearl, the brand’s authorised generic.

vitaPearl and Prena1 Pearl include more folic acid than the other prescription prenatal vitamin and provide 16 vitamins and minerals along with 200mg of pur-Docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), a highly-purified, marine-based DHA.
