Huhtamaki North America is planning to open a new manufacturing and distribution facility in Goodyear, Arizona, US, to serve west coast foodservice packaging and retail tableware markets.
In the next two years, more than $100m will be invested to carry out modifications, infrastructure and equipment installation at the facility, which was purchased from Cohen Asset Management.
Once completed, the 750,000ft² facility will create around 300 jobs.
The centre will manufacture paper, insulated and thermoformed plastic cups and lids, as well as food containers and pressed paperboard plates.
Huhtamaki North America executive vice-president Clay Dunn said: “This is a further investment in our strategy to serve the foodservice packaging and retail tableware markets with core products.
“The new facility will expand our footprint and will build off the success of our earlier expansions. The facility will not only grow our capacity, but improve our distribution capability in the region.”
