Imperial Bag & Paper, a distributor of disposable food service and janitorial supplies, has acquired US-based Borax Paper Products for an undisclosed amount.

The acquisition is in line with Imperial’s efforts to make strategic acquisitions to enhance product and service offerings, geographic footprint, and end markets served.

Borax Paper Products distributes food packaging, paper products, foodservice disposables, and janitorial and sanitary supplies.

"We can bring new opportunities to our customers and employees, while maintaining our traditions of service, responsiveness and expertise."

The addition of experienced and knowledgeable sales force from Borax will allow the combined company to provide enhanced distribution solutions and offer a broader range of products and services, Imperial said.

The acquisition is expected to provide an expanded product offering and improved customer service for both Borax and Imperial’s customers.

Borax vice-president Howard Hirsch said: "We can bring new opportunities to our customers and employees, while maintaining our traditions of service, responsiveness and expertise."

Imperial president Jason Tillis said: "The Borax acquisition is the next step in Imperial’s strategy to establish our position as the industry leading provider of food packaging, paper products, foodservice disposables, and janitorial and healthcare supplies in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic, as well as growing our presence with national accounts.

"Our vision is to further grow our business in existing markets and in new geographies."

In 2014, Imperial acquired Goldman Paper, a supplier of disposable paper, plastic and janitorial.
