Global flexible packaging and lidding films supplier KM Packaging has developed new mono-PET film range using its K Peel advanced lidding film solutions.

The new mono-PET film range will be a ‘seal and peel’ solution designed for renewable pulp and pressed board trays. It enables manufacturers to cater to the need for new sustainable packaging solutions.

KM Packaging managing director Charles Smithson said: “Many food manufacturers and fresh produce packers are now keen to switch from plastic trays to alternative tray types.

“KM Packaging’s compostable range of lidding films is also currently in trial and will present additional opportunities for sustainable packaging solutions.”

“By combining our advanced KPeel range of lidding films with renewable resource trays, customers can achieve significant reductions in rigid plastic packaging without compromising on performance, product protection or retail presentation.

“KM Packaging’s compostable range of lidding films is also currently in trial and will present additional opportunities for sustainable packaging solutions.”

According to the company, the lidding film range is suitable for various needs such as ambient, chilled, frozen and dual-ovenable applications as well as printing, perforation and lamination.

In addition, KM Packaging has piloted the new packaging solution in collaboration with a convenience food manufacturer and achieved a reduction of over 80% in overall plastic packaging weight.

The food company has replaced CPET tray design with the PET-lined pressed board tray top sealed with KPeel PLUS+ film.

The company is offering the KPeel with and without anti-fog with thicknesses from 16-40 microns for a wide range of pack applications.
