M&A this week: Macfarlane Group, Pretium Packaging, Casella Wines

Macfarlane Group will acquire Nelsons for Cartons and Packaging in a deal worth £6.75m ($8.86m).

Macfarlane Group will acquire Nelsons for Cartons and Packaging in a deal worth £6.75m ($8.86m).

The company will raise an investment of £5.8m ($7.62m) to partially fund the transaction, under which 1,724,137 new ordinary shares of Macfarlane will be issued to vendors.

Nelsons’ management team will become a part of Macfarlane’s senior management team after the acquisition.

Custom Blow Molding (CBM), a US-based producer of high-quality plastic containers and specialty items, has been acquired by Pretium Packaging.

A subsidiary of Genstar Capital, Pretium Packaging specialises in the design, manufacture and retail of rigid plastic bottles and containers.

Australia-based fortified wine producer Morris Wines has been acquired by family-owned winery Casella Wines from Pernod Ricard Winemakers.

Casella Wines will own the winery, 80ha of vineyards and the Morris of Rutherglen brand as part of the acquisition, which will allow the company to strengthen its premium wine offering.

Huhtamaki has entered the Indian foodservice packaging market by acquiring a 51% stake in Valpack Solutions, a paper cup manufacturer.

The acquisition by the Finnish packaging specialist is worth €2m ($2.20m) on a debt-free basis.

ValPack will become a part of Huhtamaki's Foodservice Europe-Asia-Oceania business, following the acquisition.

Schur Flexibles, a flexible packaging manufacturer based in Austria, will be acquired by private investment firm Lindsay Goldberg for an undisclosed amount.

The acquisition from Capiton and Schur International is expected to be completed by September.

Schur Flexibles delivers packaging solutions to food, tobacco and healthcare industries.

Following the acquisition, the company will continue to be led by its CEO and co-owner.
