M&As this week: Rhodes Food Group Holdings, Pro Mach, Canadian Overseas Packaging Industries

Rhodes Food Group Holdings, a South African food producer, will acquire Pakco (PTY), a provider of branded and private label ranges of spices and condiments, for ZAR200m ($14.61m).

Rhodes Food Group Holdings, a South African food producer, will acquire Pakco (PTY) LTD, a provider of branded and private label ranges of spices and condiments, for ZAR200m ($14.61m).

Pakco’s offerings also include instant meals and desserts in dry-packed, bottled and canned formats. Rhodes Food intends to bolster its business and grow in the dry-packed foods segment through the acquisition.

The transaction is subject to competition approval and due diligence, and is expected to be effective at the start of 2017.

Pacific Packaging Machinery, a manufacturer of filling and capping solutions based in California, US, has been acquired by integrated packaging solutions provider, Pro Mach, for an undisclosed consideration.

Following the transaction, Pacific has joined Federal and Zalkin, Pro Mach’s filling and capping brands, as well as NJM Packaging’s pharmaceutical filling and capping solutions.

The transaction has created a packaging solutions provider with more than 15,000 installed machines worldwide.

Pro Mach aims to enhance its solutions for the food, pharmaceutical, personal, home care and chemical segments.

Canadian Overseas Packaging Industries (COPI), a producer of corrugated fibreboard containers and multi-wall paper bags, has acquired corrugated board and box maker Corrpak Jamaica.

The Jamaican box manufacturer will integrate its operations with Jamaica Packaging Industries, a subsidiary of COPI, as part of the transaction.

WillaKenzie Estate Winery has been acquired by Jackson Family Wines a family-owned wine producer based in the US.

Jackson Family Wines has acquired the company's brand, winery and tasting room as part of the transaction. A planted vineyard spread over 124 acres in the Yamhill-Carlton region and Dundee Hills has also been acquired as part of the transaction.

Based in Oregon’s Willamette Valley, WillaKenzie Estate Winery is a producer of single-vineyard pinot noir and pinot gris.
