Plastic packaging company ALPLA is set to acquire Propack, a producer of high-density polyethylene (HDPE) and polyethylene terephthalate (PET) bottles based in Italy.

Expected to be completed in July, the acquisition will help the company to strengthen its production capacities in north-east Italy, as well as expand its operations and customer reach in the region.

Sonoco, a diversified packaging company based in the US, is set to acquire flexible and forming plastic packaging films developer, Clear Lam Packaging.

The purchase consideration for the acquisition includes $170m in cash.
