According to Mitsubishi, the project will increase the factory’s capacity for manufacturing polyester films, and will provide enhanced capability for new products.

The upgrade comes on top of a $10m project launched late in 2010 to rollout the reprocess sustainable liner programme. This recycling process makes PET pellets from the inline silicone-coated release films that are used as dispensing liners for labels placed on consumer goods, including beverage bottles and personal care products.

Mitsubishi said the company has invested more than $200m at its Greer facility over the past ten years.

The upgrade work to the Greer facility is expected to be completed in late 2012.
