The design combines a kraft paper sleeve for secure transport with a corrugated carrying handle that firmly grips the bottles by the neck. This integrated handle provides both convenience and strength.

Mondi commissioned a critically reviewed and International Organization for Standardization (ISO)-compliant LCA to assess Hug&Hold’s environmental impact across its entire life cycle, from raw material acquisition and production to end-of-life disposal (based on typical practices in the EU27).

The assessment employed the Environmental Footprint method and evaluated 16 key indicators, including climate change, fossil resource use, and water utilisation.

The results were clear: Hug&Hold significantly reduces environmental impact in various categories when compared to plastic shrink wrap.

This includes a 43% lower carbon footprint – a major benefit for companies aiming to minimise their environmental impact.

“Mondi values independent critical reviews and a data-driven route to help customers assess the environmental impact of their products. This LCA on Hug&Hold delivers on that,” said Silvia Hanzelova, sales director of Specialty Kraft Paper at Mondi.

“The results play a vital role in our customers’ decision-making process, which ensures that we keep creating sustainable solutions in line with our MAP2030 (Mondi Action Plan 2030) commitments, providing effective and creative solutions – that are sustainable by design and successful in application.”

Hug&Hold offers beverage companies a compelling alternative to traditional plastic packaging. It delivers on sustainability goals without compromising functionality or user experience.

By switching to Hug&Hold, companies can significantly reduce their environmental footprint and demonstrate their commitment to eco-conscious practices.
