Canada-based print and packaging company Mountain View Printing has invested in Epson’s highly automated digital label press as it aims to strengthen its label printing business.

The company installed Epson’s SurePress L-6534VW UV digital label press.

This automated press features high-pigment, low-migration LED UV curing ink that removes the need for precoating a substrate in the process.

The L-6534VW prints labels up to 13.4in wide as fast as 164ft per minute.

Available with Digital Varnish or Orange Ink, the press offers more accurate colour labels with quicker turnaround times for a wide range of markets.

Epson claims to have developed, serviced, and manufactured all the PrecisionCore print heads, inks, LED pinning technology and curing lamp units, media feeding, and control systems for the press.

Mountain View founder and partner BJ Chandler expects the speed of SurePress to expand and grow its business.

Chandler said: “We purchased our first label press in the spring [early] of 2019 to create labels for customers in a timely fashion.

“When the pandemic started in 2020, we had customers approaching us with requests for hand sanitiser labels, and from there, the business really grew. We started printing beer, cannabis and food labels, and the original machine we had purchased simply couldn’t keep up.

“We’re currently working with a local company to print large runs of fruit labels. We print about a quarter million of these labels a month on clear material with opaque white. If we didn’t have the SurePress, that’s the type of business we wouldn’t be able to do and the type of customer we wouldn’t be able to help.”

Mountain View operates an 18,000ft² facility where it employs more than 40 people.

The company serves brands across multiple industries, including within the pharmaceutical and manufacturing sectors.
