Thermoformed medical packager Nelipak Corporation has acquired Puerto Rico-based thermoforming company Tegrant Alloyd Brands of Puerto Rico (TABPR), strengthening its commitment to the North American healthcare market.

The acquisition will operate under Nelipak Healthcare Packaging brand and allow Nelipak to expand its presence in Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic and Caribbean regions.

Under the new brand, TABPR will further develop its thermoformed packaging products and service capabilities for the healthcare market.

Nelipak President and CEO Mike Kelly said: “We are thrilled to expand our global manufacturing footprint and gain greater access to the Puerto Rico and Dominican Republic healthcare markets with the acquisition of Tegrant Alloyd Brands of Puerto Rico.

“This acquisition enables us to better support our global customers, since many of them have operations in Puerto Rico.

With the acquisition, customers of TABPR will now be able to gain access to Nelipak’s design teams and cleanroom manufacturing across its locations worldwide.

TABPR is a subsidiary of Sonoco Products Company and manufacturer of thermoformed rigid packaging primarily for the medical market, with products such as trays, clamshells, and blisters.

Nelipak said it will continue to invest in manufacturing and cleanroom facilities, in a bid to deliver high-end packaging to major medical device manufacturers and pharmaceutical firms.
