American beverage manufacturing company Niagara Bottling has confirmed an investment of $48m for the expansion of its existing bottling facility in the city of Temple, Texas, US.

This was announced by the non-profit organisation Temple Economic Development Corporation (EDC), which also acts as an economic development entity for Temple.

As part of the expansion project, the beverage manufacturing company will build a new warehouse at the plant.

This work will help create at least 14 new employment opportunities at the site.

Niagara executive vice-president Brian Hess said: “This facility will allow Niagara to manage the distribution of new beverage products and serve important customers throughout the region.

“We appreciate the support provided to us by the city of Temple and the Temple EDC. The highly competitive and attractive location, transportation infrastructure and workforce, have helped fuel an important partnership between Niagara and the community.”

The initial announcement regarding the establishment of a new bottling plant in the city was made by Niagara in 2019.

With an initial investment of $90m, the 450,000ft² facility was then opened at Temple Industrial Park. The site was later expanded in 2020.

Temple EDC president and CEO Adrian Cannady said: “We are excited about what this expansion means for both Temple and Niagara, a strong member of our community’s growing food and beverage industry thanks to its growing operations over the past few years.

“Temple is a prime location for food and beverage companies, with national brands and homegrown businesses alike.”

Founded in 1963, Niagara is a family-owned and operated company that supplies private-label bottled water across the US.

The company promotes sustainability by participating in efforts to save water and manufactures 100% recyclable bottles and caps.

The company also has another bottling plant at Meadowville Technology Park in Chesterfield County, Virginia, US.
