Niman Ranch launches preservative packaging for fresh pork

The Cryovac Darfresh tray is claimed to extend the shelf life of products by up to 35 days.

US-based natural meat supplier Niman Ranch has introduced Cryovac Darfresh Tray packaging for its Certified Humane fresh pork products.

Equipped with a hermetic seal, the packaging is designed to extend the product’s shelf life and fight food waste while preserving colour, flavour and integrity.

Darfresh’s patented technology is claimed to help extend shelf life by up to 35 days.

Niman Ranch general manager Chris Oliviero said: “As a quality-driven brand, we are proud to now offer Darfresh packaging to our grocer partners, better showcasing our pork’s remarkable marbling and colour and retaining peak quality.

“When a product looks and tastes this good, it deserves to be on full display, which Darfresh offers.

“This new packaging is one more way that we stand by our commitment to offering the best customer experience and the finest tasting meat in the world.”

Niman Ranch’s case-ready packaging is easy to open and suitable for consumers looking for shorter grocery store visits and more Click and Collect or home delivery shopping experiences.

Family-run grocer Morton Williams Supermarkets, which operates 16 fresh markets across the New York City metro area, is the first retailer to offer Niman Ranch’s Darfresh packaging.

Morton Williams meat and seafood director Victor Colello said: “At Morton Williams, we always offer our customers the best quality and convenience.

“We are excited to now carry this all-natural pork line from Niman Ranch with no antibiotics or hormones for our customers looking for great taste, sustainable food and shopping convenience.”

Working with a network of small independent family farmers and ranchers, Niman Ranch aims to raise livestock sustainably and humanely, with no antibiotics or added hormones.

According to the United Nations, around one third of the food produced worldwide each year is wasted.
