O-I Glass Inc has named Gordon J Hardie as its new chief executive officer effective 15 May 2024, pending the issuance of his US work visa.

Hardie, an O-I Board member since 2015, brings more than 35 years of leadership experience to the role, notably as president of food and ingredients at Bunge Limited.

Hardie succeeds Andres Lopez, who is retiring.

John H Walker, independent board chair, expressed confidence in a statement in Hardie’s leadership,

“Gordon is a proven leader with extensive experience in the packaged food and beverage industry, bringing valuable customer perspective,” Walker said.

“Having served on the O-I board for nearly nine years, he also has a deep understanding of our business, operations and culture – and most importantly, the opportunities ahead. The board is confident that Gordon will take the company into its next phase of innovation and growth.”
