Paccor is expecting to strengthen its global standing in the rigid barrier packaging applications market after acquiring EDV Packaging Solutions.
EDV Packaging produces food protection packaging solutions such as barrier sheets and thermoformed containers to extend product shelf-life.
The Spanish-based rigid barrier packaging manufacturer uses polypropylene and advanced bio compostable materials to make coffee capsules. Its products offer protection against oxygen migration.
Paccor CEO Andreas Schütte said: “We are very happy to welcome EDV Packaging Solutions as a new member of the Paccor worldwide family.
“Over the past years, EDV has achieved very impressive growth and profitability. We are happy to merge forces in order to jointly capture further opportunities within Europe and outside of it.”
The acquisition will allow both parties to work collaboratively on procuding sustainable packaging solutions while bolstering their market presence.
As part of the deal, EDV will become Paccor’s centre of excellence for thermoformed products that require higher oxygen protection.
Paccor is set to enter the European coffee capsules market. The packaging services provider will also support EDV’s market growth in Europe and beyond.
EDV president Koke Pursals said: “After 30 years of hard work growing a family business to become the leading European operator of rigid barrier packaging, it is an excellent opportunity for us to be a part of the bigger Paccor family.
“This is an upscale to become a worldwide player in this fast-growing segment.”
In March this year, Paccor launched newly designed, environment-friendly continuous compression-moulded bottle closures.
