Packaging Services Europe wins ISO 22000 food safety management accreditation

Packaging Services Europe (PSE) has been accredited under the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 22000 food safety management standard, following its launch in the UK in February 2016.

Packaging Services Europe (PSE) has been accredited under the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 22000 food safety management standard, following its launch in the UK in February 2016.

The ISO 22000 accreditation, a quality management system for the food industry, validates the company’s commitment to reduce and eliminate food safety risks in its pallet wash operations.

The standard also includes hazard analysis and critical control points (HACCP) and other preventive plans that ensure food safety.

Packaging Services Europe joint managing director Andrew Parkinson said: “Since setting up the PSE business just over a year ago, we have worked hard to establish and maintain operations which provide confidence to customers and other stakeholders (through the ISO 22000 certification process) that PSE controls food safety standards.

"We make use of ATP microbial testing, verified by the food and pharmaceutical industries, to ensure packaging is returned to the supply chain meeting the agreed standard."

“By working at very precise temperatures, carefully handling water pressure, specifying water flow and focusing on managed drying processes, we are able to deliver a high-quality wash solution.

With facilities situated across the UK, the company currently provides reusable transit packaging services for the food and drink, medical, automotive and engineering sectors.

PSE is also planning to open new facilities across the UK to offer wash, inspect and repair services under its existing portfolio.
