Speciality packaging provider Parkside has developed a new compostable wrapper for Ireland-based nutritious food brand Nobó’s latest range of plant-based, milk-style chocolate.
With the development of the compostable wrapper, Parkside has extended its support to the clean eating and living market.
The launch of Nobó’s alternative chocolate range is the first initiative taken by the company outside of its frozen food business.
To be in line with the health food brand’s aim to create better alternatives, Parkside manufactured the wrapper from plant-based materials and a compostable film laminate, making the new pack environmentally friendly.
Parkside innovation and new product development (NPD) head Phil O’Driscoll said: “We worked closely with Nobó to create a pack that reflected the company’s emphasis on guilt-free indulgence.
“The Choc discs are made with sustainable plant-based ingredients and are free from dairy, gluten, refined sugar and artificial additives, so the wrapper needed to be as good to the environment as the product is to the body.
“We are proud to have produced a fully compostable pack that helps rather than hinders the environment.”
The new pack developed for Nobó is a triple layer structure that is made up of paper, NatureFlex and biopolymer sealant web.
The wrapper also includes bio-based materials such as wood-pulp and corn starch.
Parkside’s new Nobó wrapper follows the successful production of a compostable pack for ethical food brand Rhythm 108’s Ooh-la-latea biscuits.
