US-based temperature-controlled packaging solutions provider Pelican BioThermal has expanded its manufacturing facilities in Plymouth, Minnesota.
Expected to increase manufacturing personnel by 8%, the expansion will include the addition of new machinery and more than 14,000ft² of space.
Pelican BioThermal president David Williams said: “Adding single-use shipper production in the US maximises our flexibility in meeting our customers’ diverse needs.
“As our business continues to develop globally with new offices and service centres around the world, we are equally excited to bring additional manufacturing capabilities to Pelican BioThermal’s headquarters in Plymouth.”
The expanded facility will be used to produce the company’s single-use temperature-controlled shippers, including its CoolPall Vertos, Chronos Advance, and Chronos Express solutions.
It will also produce components, including outer corrugate, insulating foam and coolant BRICs.
The Plymouth facility will use designs and machinery previously used exclusively at the company’s UK-based operations, offering uniformity to the shippers, which will be delivered worldwide.
In September 2016, Pelican BioThermal added new capabilities to the facility to support the production of single-use temperature-controlled shippers in the US.
With the expansion, the company aims to meet the demands of customers worldwide.
