The Netherlands-based PerfoTec has introduced a new top seal packaging machine, Roadrunner, which is integrated with PerfoTec's laser perforation system.

Roadrunner features a Pro-Seal GTR Trayseal machine and PER 30 Laser from PerfoTec as well as various test material, such as punnets and Sealappeal PSF, an ultra-transparent and easy-to-peel film.

According to PerfoTec, its new plug-and-play solution also offers enhanced packaging with pre-perforated or non-perforated films.

PerfoTec is also planning to display its newly developed top seal packaging machine at the upcoming Fruit Logistica event, which will be held in Berlin, Germany, from 8 to 10 February.

"Its new plug-and-play solution also offers enhanced packaging with pre-perforated or non-perforated films."

In November, the company announced Tesco potato supplier Branston’s plan to use its technology in packaging for King Edward and jacket potatoes.

The tailor-made packaging helped Branston to expand the use of packaging that increases their shelf life at Tesco stores.

PerfoTec noted that it uses laser technology to perforate the packaging, in order to control the amount of oxygen that enters the bag.

The micro-holes reduce oxygen and increase carbon dioxide, thus slowing potatoes' respiratory process.
