German oat flakes and breakfast cereals manufacturer Peter Kölln has picked Feldmuehle Uetersen’s MOB-liner barrier paper solution for its oat flakes packaging.
Feldmuehle Uetersen is a Germany-based paper mill that launched its barrier paper solution to help food producers protect their products from pollutants by mineral oil residues.
The MOB-Liner is a flexible packaging paper made of virgin fibre material that has been developed to address the requirements of paper-based packaging solutions.
Feldmuehle Uetersen Packaging Solutions business area official Eckhard Kallies said: “Brand owners that want to make further progress in the area of food safety have an effective and well-proven product available in the form of the mineral oil barrier paper from Feldmuehle.”
Peter Kölln Packaging Purchasing head Robert Bethke said: “The safety of our food has top priority for Kölln.
“That’s why we proactively looked for a solution to reliably protect our oatmeal from harmful environmental influences on the way from production to trade and the consumer.”
Feldmuehle’s barrier-coated papers, which are made of white pulp fibres from certified forestry, provide a paper surface that prevents contamination by gaseous mineral oils and penetration of greases through the packaging.
All components used in the special multi-layer coating application are approved for direct food contact and are free of fluorocarbons.
The MOB-Liner can be used for inner bags of folding boxes, multi-layered bags, sacks, and lamination of corrugated boards.
