Chicago-based protective packaging materials and systems provider Pregis is looking to reinforce its network across Europe two years after taking over British eco-friendly packaging company Easypack.

The 2016 acquisition offered the American giant a chance expand its range of operations to the European continent, and Easypack recently announced its decision to trade as Pregis from 2018.

Pregis said the name change would enable it to invest in new technologies, improve its portfolio of protective packaging solutions and establish its role within the European distribution network.

European customers will also be able to access the company’s latest packaging systems, which are currently available for US brands in different sectors.

Pregis has reassured customers that the Easypack’s range of environment-friendly packaging offers would continue being a major contributor to the company’s portfolio.

In the past 26 years, the UK producer has grown to become one of the leading manufacturers in the green packaging solutions industry for commercial packaging operations.

The company has a range of 100% recycled, recyclable and biodegradable paper packaging and was acquired by Pregis in 2006. Over the last year, Pregis launched a range of new solutions, including Airspeed Edge, an environment-friendly alternative to air bags.

Pregis’ operations director, Jason Cox, said “We welcomed and embraced the opportunity to become part of the Pregis family because we are all driven by the same passions and ethics.

“The Easypack brand of environmentally friendly packaging solutions is more relevant today than ever and as Pregis Limited, we will be able to deliver our innovative, green packaging solutions to even more customers across Europe, directly to end users and through our growing network of distribution partners.”

Cox added: “Pregis is at the forefront of protective packaging innovation, improvement and cost-efficiency, so we can now offer our customers end-to-end packaging solutions, along with full consultancy services as well as the same excellent customer service and value.”

Paper packaging is increasingly in demand following the recent EU pledge to remove plastic packaging from European soil by 2030.”
