Pregis Performance Flexibles has expanded its line of barrier packaging formats with a metallised polyethylene film.
As per the supplier, the film is aimed at uses previously reliant on metallised oriented polypropylene or polyethylene terephthalate.

Providing equivalent processing characteristics and protection to traditional substrates, the material holds How2Recycle prequalification for store drop-off collection.
Additionally, the firm’s U-Series film eliminates nylon, a component that typically obstructs recycling in conventional barrier structures, while retaining required strength and barrier attributes.
Both products sit within the company’s Renew line, a flexible packaging range structured around four areas: recyclability, renewable sourcing, recycled content, and reduced material usage.
To address demand for renewable packaging inputs, Pregis is collaborating with sector partners to develop bio-based resin options.
At its blown-film manufacturing facility in Anderson, South Carolina, the business recorded a 99% landfill waste diversion rate across 2024 and 2025.
Pregis performance flexibles president Bob Gargione said: “Every one of these structures started with a customer telling us what they could not give up, whether that was shelf life, line speed or a particular package format.
“Our job was to deliver a recycle-ready answer that performed the same way on their equipment. Now, five years in, the portfolio is broad enough that recyclability is no longer the tradeoff it used to be, and that matters more every time another state enacts EPR regulation.”
